USA Sports Jujitsu Alliance Championships
This premier competition will again be held at Towpath YMCA in Navarre, Ohio on Saturday, April 27th. For over 35 years this event has provided excellent tournament experience for the new student and advanced competitor. With 20 separate events and 8 divisions to compete in this Championship providing a fairer playing field among competitors. As in the past event we will award Trophies for First and Second place, high quality medals for third and fourth place with all others receiving a participation medal.
As a reminder the North Coast divides the beginner division in half ie: New Beginner
0-6 months experience and Beginner
is 6-12 months. The same for advanced ie: Advanced 3-5 years and Experienced Advanced 5 years +. All for better opportunity for competitors!
For students that have not competed before- We do a warm-up and dry run with judges at 8:30am. to become familiar and ease the butterflies!
We are proud to have the USA Karate Federation [USAKF]and combine the North Coast Karate Championships with the USA Karate Federation National Championships this year.
The USAKF, under the authority of Mr. Patrick Hickey, is the organization responsible for the early Olympic karate movement leading to participation in the Pan American Games years ago.


The Self-Defense division allows the competitor to demonstrate the application of their skills from three different attacks: 1.Grab 2. Hold or Embrace (bear hug), and 3. Club. Note: Higher belt levels (Purple & Up) can utilize a Knife Defense instead of a Club. The competitor has 45 seconds to complete the 3 attacks and is judged on skill, form and realism of attack & defense application. Competitors may use one attacker to perform all three attacks or they may use multiple attackers. This division is exciting to participate in, as it is to watch!
In addition to the Karate competition at the North Coast Karate Championship, USA Sport Ju Jitsu Alliance will provide competition with U.S. Sport Jujitsu, No-Gi Grappling, Freestyle Judo (AAU Rules) . You will see everyone enjoying this event!
